A Seminar on Soft Skill and Personality Development was held at Longowal Polytechnic College, Derabassi. At least 25 students participated in the two-hour-long workshop on ‘soft skills and personality development’ conducted by Gurjinder Kaur Bhangu, the senior communication skill lecturer. The program also aimed to teach students to work with various professionals, people and groups to understand the meaning of life and work in the present context; to enhance their communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to function in professional and social settings effectively; to enrich the academic language skills (writing and presentation skills) for academic writing and presentations; to understand effective planning, time management and implementation for setting goals and achieving both personal and professional goals; to learn to evaluate oneself (self-appraisal and introspection) for further growth, personally and professionally. Speaking on the occasion, (Principal) Dr. Rosy Katyal stated, “It is important to address the issue of Soft Skill Development at the workplace considering it can enhance performance and productivity and boost the confidence of the workforce so as to give their 100 percent.
